Independent Living for Seniors
What are Independent Living Communities?
Independent Living is ideal for seniors who are looking for companionship and freedom from housekeeping, laundry, transportation, and preparing meals.
The larger apartment-style communities have the feeling of home and allow your loved one to live independently in a studio, a one, or two-bedroom apartment.
These residences provide all the benefits of community life and the amenities that come with it. Communities usually have a common dining room, with the wait staff.
They also have a hair salon, vans or buses for transportation, and mutual areas such as a library, theater room, gym, medical clinic, and aerobics center.
Independent Living is great for people who are on the go and are able to live on their own but enjoy the shared dining experience and relief from the upkeep of a home or apartment.
As a Senior Placement Agency, we work with many of the larger homes for Independent Living for seniors all throughout the great state of Florida. Our smaller single family residential homes accept independent seniors as well.
How do you qualify for Homes for Independent Living?
You qualify by being independent because you can take care of your activities of daily living and you want a lifestyle that provides activities, and meals yet with your own apartment-like setting. Independent living allows you to still drive, with a care-free lifestyle.
What is the cost for Independent Living and who pays for it?
Independent living is private pay, much like you’re doing right now living at home, but meals and activities are included, in most cases, as well as electric, water, cable and transportation, and housekeeping, if needed.
With Florida having one of the largest senior populations it’s no wonder why we have 546 independent living communities. Included in this are 870 independent living communities.
The costs of seniors living in an independent community range between $467 and $4,356 monthly, with the average cost being $2,545. This is higher than the national average which is $1,729 per month.
What do independent living communities include?
Every community is unique to itself. Some offer swimming pools, tennis, activities, entertainment, gyms, theater, housekeeping, and transportation. Finding the correct place depends on who you are, it’s OUR job to find their perfect match.
What’s the difference between Independent Living and Assisted Living?
Independent living means you do not need any services, you can handle all your activities of daily living on your own. Assisted living means you may need some help, possibly with medication management, shower assistance, standing, direction, or transportation.
